FRSC, the Federal Road Safety Corps, has issued a warning to drivers .
After a flyover bridge fell, it diverted traffic along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Expressway.
This was said in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Corps Public Relations Officer (CPEO) and Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM), Bisi Kazeem.
By the new Artisan Market on the Port Harcourt–Enugu dual highway in Enugu State, according to Kazeem, a bridge had collapsed.
He claimed that the bridge, which allegedly fell on September 25 around 12:30 p.m., had a negative impact on traffic along that route.
He claims that it is advisable for drivers traveling from Port Harcourt/Aba to Abakiliki to pass through Bricks at the brand-new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point)-Okpara Square.
“They will travel through Ogui Roundabout-Abakpa Junction (82 Division), arrive at New Haven Junction by way of Otigba Roundabout, and then continue on to Abakiliki.
However, drivers from Abuja/Abakiliki traveling to Aba/Port Harcourt are recommended to take the Abakpa Junction (82 Division)-New Haven junction through the Otigba Roundabout.
“This would be through Ogui Roundabout to Okpara Square and proceed to Enugu/Port harcourt dual carriageway, new Kenyatta Market (Army Check Point), and continue to Aba/PH,” the man stated.
Kazeem said the advisory became necessary to ensure that motorists were not caught up in avoidable gridlock.
He quoted the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, as admonishing drivers of all categories of vehicles using that route to adhere to the aforementioned alternative roads and maintain all road traffic rules and regulations for safe arrival.
